She received her PhD in Applied Linguistics from The University of Memphis and holds a BA in Linguistics (1998) and an MA in 英语作为第二语言 (2000) from The University of Memphis. Her research areas of interest include LGBTQ domestic and international student issues, issues related to underrepresented student populations and study abroad, 第二语言习得, and linguistic challenges faced by international students at US institutions.
